It's notable how Josh Allen has changed his play style this season. From 2020-24 he had one of the lowest sack rates every year, but in 2025 his sack rate is a very high 8%. Not coincidentally, his YPA is also the highest in his career. Allen suddenly plays like Burrow where he holds the ball and takes sacks in order to create more big plays.

Yet his aDOT is lower and YAC reliance is higher. I think his holding the ball longer might actually have to do with receivers being unable to get open down the field. They're running quick concepts and then if it's not there Allen is holding the ball. There's an element of what Josh Hermsmeyer likes to say: receivers control YAC. His best options are underneath options who are good at YAC
